An excellent recovery drink for taking after a long run Apr 10, 2007
By frowzy This drink is specially formulated to provide your body with what it needs after a long hard workout (for example, after running a half-marathon). Drink it within 30 minutes after the run. After I started using this drink, I found I recovered more quickly after long runs. I've only tried the tropical punch flavor so far. I probably wouldn't drink it just for its flavor! But as a protein supplement, it's tastes very good.

Ultragen recovery review Oct 11, 2009

I am a triathlete with high weekly training effort. I felt far better after I began drinking Ultragen Recovery within 2 hours after the training. I felt more relaxed and ready for the next session. I tried different products but this one is the only one convincing me. Highly recommendable.

We bought it for my daughter, she trains every day and really says it back. It is a high performance athlete, and if he says it works, it works.

I was skeptical about recovery drinks until I tried Ultragen. I've used this product now for about a year. I drink it immediately after a long/hard training ride or race, and (1) feel better for the rest of the day, not fatigued and foggy like I used to; and (2) am able to train hard or compete again the next day if I choose to. I used to prepare a labor-intensive meal with all the perfect foods for post-ride, but it never worked like Ultragen does (and now I just mix, drink, and go about my stretching, lube the drivetrain, etc., and eat in an hour or so after the recovery drink does its thing.) Ultragen features whey isolate protein; do the research, this is the protein that works fastest and most effectively to repair tissue, and most recovery drinks use whey concentrates which are much less effective). At first I balked at the cost of Ultragen, but the other recovery drinks using the whey isolates are comparable. At $3 a serving, anyway, big deal - that's less than a Starbucks and it's a perfect post-ride meal. Easy, fast, and while I'm not crazy about the Orange Creamsickle flavor, I am now hooked on the Capuccino flavor. I actually consider it delicious, especially with cold water, and look forward to drinking it while I'm training (and I don't like coffee, this is more like a nutty chocolate milk). Ultragen is the real deal.

"Love to Ride"
I'm typically very skeptical about products like this, but after almost using a full container, I'm convinced it works. I really only use it after very hard bike rides - the kind that I know based on past experience that I'm probably going to have problems moving around for the rest of the day and the following day. The "problem" has been that after taking this, I've actually felt pretty good - to the point that I've felt that I could ride again the next day without issue. For me, the difference has been too significant to attribute to any possible "placebo" effect (which is something I also try to keep in mind with products along these lines).
The only flavor I've ever tried is the Orange Creamsicle, and I enjoy it so much I doubt I'll try anything else. I've mixed it with both water and milk and to me it tastes great either way. I actually like it so much that I start thinking about drinking it while I'm still on the ride - which allows me to push myself even harder.
I wish I could find a sport drink that I like this much...
