5Works Great  Sep 14, 2010 By Lynn Lee "Max Lee"
These omni directional cleats work great. They are silver in color vs. the std black that come with shimano spds. (The std black cleats are mono directional - you have to twist laterally to release from the pedal.) I feel more confident about unclipping from my spd pedals when I need to without worrying about twisting my foot in a specific direction. I highly recommend these cleats for anyone concerned about unclipping quickly.

5Great all around cleats  Aug 29, 2010 By Jenny
These cleats came with my new shimano pedals, and I have to say they are wonderful. These have "multi-directional" release, meaning that you can literally twist your heel any which way and they release for you. I have never had a problem releasing quickly, even for a quick, unexpected stop, and have never had any of those infamous falls not being able to release in time, because these allow for such fast, easy release. You really don't have to think about it at all, just twist your foot right off. In addition, they don't release unexpectedly when you don't want them to like going up hill. Great cleats for spd compatible pedals!

5Exit Like Flats  Aug 25, 2011 By goldsbar
I was a bit skeptical about these cleats at first. I've been riding some form of clipless for over 15 years and was worried about unexpected releases. I'm happy to report that's not the case. The regular cleats are easy to disengage but these are just a bit easier in some situations where you're about to fall over and can't do a typical sideways foot twist in time. You can push technical riding to the limits. They hold solid on fast rocky downhills and standing uphill power climbs unless you have a pedal strike (pretty typical issue with all pedals). Would probably avoid for singlespeeding which can involve very forcefull upstroke pulls at a very low cadance.

5Beginner with cleats. So far, so good  Feb 10, 2012 By K. Walton
My first cleat purchase. My pedals came with Shimano SH51 cleats but after reading reviews, there's only ONE way to release the cleat. I purchased these SH56 cleats to hopefully avoid falling over several times until I got the hang of cleats. Like magic, they're very easy to use. I feel safe and have slowly started to add more tension to my pedal springs. Haven't fallen yet, haven't slipped out of them and easy on/off.

5No-nonsense, effective SPD cleats  Aug 05, 2011 By Neurasthenic "neurasthenic"
I've been using these, or their equivalents, for over ten years. They last a long time, and I can't think of an instance in which they ever unclipped without my wanting them to. They're "multi-release" but I've only ever used them by swinging out my heel, same as I would do on a road bike, and they work fine that way.
